New Law Allows New
Yorkers To Go Directly To A Physical Therapist
Without A
Physician Referral
The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) announced that
as of November 2006, New York State no longer requires a
doctor's prescription for physical therapy. New York is
the 43rd state to pass the "direct access" legislation, allowing
patients in to go directly to a licensed physical therapist for
care. This bill is a thoughtful and important piece of
legislation focusing on patient health and safety. |
